week of September 21, 2015

Week of September 21, 2015

Math- Our essential question for Topic 15 is: “What words can be used to describe the position or location of shapes?”  We have been using left and right in handwriting and practicing it over the past two weeks. We have also been practicing: inside/outside, in front of/behind, on top of/bottom, and over/under.

Science- We will continue to use our senses to describe the world around us.  Also, we have been discussing science safety rules and various science tools that we will be using during the school year. Our experiment was viewing an object in a cup of water and comparing it to how it looked in a cup without water.

Reading- Our new story is “Plaidypus Lost” and our amazing words are: platypus, lost, market, around, found, groceries.  This is a story where we can find the rhyme and rhythm of the story.  We will also sequence the story and review setting and characters.

Phonics-We will review letters Aa-Nn and introduce Oo-Ss.  We have been reviewing letter names in class.  Also, we have been clapping out syllable of words and putting syllables together to make words.  Please review sight words each night as well.  Thanks for your cooperation.
