Mrs. Borden and Mrs.
Jones’ Nifty Newsletter (week of February 25)
In Phonics, our new letter is Jj like in Jar and Jones. We have been working very hard on beginning
sounds and ending sounds of words as
well. Please continue to practice sight
words and read your readers.
In Math, we will be working with nickels and counting by 5’s. We will also be reviewing AB, AABB, and ABC patterns. We will talk about hot, cold, and various temperatures as well. We have been working very hard on writing our numbers 0-20.
Our new Reading story
is “Abuela”. It is about an adventure in a city as well as
various forms of transportation. This is our last story in the unit on
adventures. A new unit starts the
following week.
Please wear warm
coats, hats, and gloves. We are trying very
hard to get outside for recess if at all possible.
On Friday, March 1st, it
will be Read Across America Day to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We will have students from Bloomsburg
University come in to do a book and reading activity with our class. We will also have lots and lots of reading
fun with our selection of Dr. Seuss books and activities. Here is a list of things our class has going
on this week:
Monday: The Cat in the Hat, The Cat in the Hat Comes Back (rhyming families,
patterns, making characters)
