week of September 7, 2015

*Welcome to the first installment of our weekly classroom newsletter.  It will fill you in on things that have happened, we are working on, and things that are coming up in Kindergarten.  We will provide the first newsletter on paper, but the remainder of the year, they will be online only.  They can be found on our homework blog on the North Schuylkill website. Please also check our blogs with these directions: go to the North Schuylkill Website, under the Elementary tab, under Staff Events and Homework Blogs, and click on Borden, J. If you do not have internet access, please write a note so that we can provide a paper copy. It is important to check this weekly for important dates and classroom information.  Thanks!

*We are so excited that everyone in our room has made a very smooth transition into Kindergarten and NSE!  We have been so impressed that more often than not, it was “Outstanding” on the behavior charts.  Now that we are settled in and are clear on the rules and expectations, we will all be starting each day on the “All Aboard” block on the behavior chart and will have the opportunity to move up the blocks to “Outstanding” for making positive choices.  If there are any rules broken, it will be documented on the daily take home chart for review.  This daily behavior review is directly correlated to the school wide behavior plan.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

*Written homework will be starting September 8.  In addition to the sight words in the envelope (please review nightly and keep in the folder) and the AR book log (please read the book in the bag nightly and complete the book log) there will be a ½ sheet of written work that reviews concepts taught in school.  It will be located in the “bring right back side” and completed Monday-Thursday nights.

*Please clean out the “left at home” side of the folder each night.  There is so much completed each day along with informational sheets that it can get difficult for the students to keep the papers in place if it is not cleaned out each night.  Thank you for your cooperation!

*A few reminders:

-Please send in a spare set of dress code clothes to keep in the cubbies if you have not done so already.

-Please practice the four digit number for lunch/computers/library.

-There will be no school on Monday, September 7.  Tuesday will be Day 6.

-Please continue to send a snack daily and have it separate from your child’s lunch (if they pack).  We do have a water fountain in the room if they do not bring a drink.

~Mrs. Borden and Mrs. Jones would like to say thank you so much for coming to “Meet the Teacher”, completing and returning the back to school forms, and having the folders come back to school each day.  This school year is off to a great start and we cannot wait for all of the fabulous things to come!~
