Week of December 21

For the next three days we will be reviewing the letters that we have been working on and their sounds . We will also review sight words and Word List 6.

In math we will finish up ten frames and review using manipulates.

We are creating snowmen for our bulletin board and writing about them as part of our snow unit. In the next month we will be doing science experiments, writings, and reading books about snow! We are very excited.

Don't forget your Pajamas Tuesday for the Polar Express! We will be reading the book Monday and watching the movie on Tuesday with cookies and hot chocolate!

Our Christmas party will be Wednesday afternoon.

Week of December 14

Homework
Continue to practice identifying letters, sounds, word lists and sight words.
Wednesday- Bring B show and tell
Thursday - B Handwriting due
This week in phonics we will learn about letter Bb as in balloon and baby. We will separate words into compound words and develop an awareness that sentences are composed of individual words.
In reading we will begin a new story Whose Garden Is It? We will talk about where animals live.
In math we will continue to work with ten frames and counting to 30.

December 7

Kindergarten News
This week in phonics we will be learning the consonant Rr as is rabbit and rainbow. Show and Tell will be on Wednesday, December 9th. Please continue to practice identifying letters, sounds, sight words and word lists.
In Reading, we will read A Bed for the Winter. We will talk about the kinds of homes animals need for the winter.
In Math we will begin Chapter 6, Numbers 10 – 30. In this chapter we will use ten frames to count by 10’s.
Our Christmas concert will be held December 10th at 9:30 a.m. The concert will be in the high school auditorium. Grades K-2 will perform in this concert. Grades 3-6 will perform on December 11th at 9:30 a.m.
Our last day to shop at Santa’s workshop will be on Tuesday, December 8. If your child did not have the opportunity to show yet, please make sure their money is in by Tuesday.
