week of November 16-20, 2015

Science- We will be finishing up our Topic on Earth and sky.  We identified seasons, types of weather, day and night, and different land and water formations.  We will be taking our test on this topic this week, please sign and return it as soon as possible.  Thank you!

Reading- Our new story is "A Bed For The Winter" and we will be sequencing this story about a mouse trying to find a suitable home for the chilly winter season.  Our amazing words include: nest, stump, hive, meadow, tree trunk, den.  We will also work on giving descriptions for the places that the mouse tries out for his home.

Phonics/Grammar- Ii is our letter of the week and we are discussing the long and short sound of Ii.  We will be identifying words that have Ii in the beginning and in the middle sound.  We are also reviewing all letters and sounds and are putting sounds together to blend words such as: /c/ /a/ /t/ to make cat.  Please continue to review sight words.  We have identified opposites and are working on writing rules such as: a capital letter to start a sentence, a period at the end for telling sentences, two finger space between words, and read it back to make sure it makes sense.

Math- We will continue to read, write, count, identify, and order numbers 0-10.  We have also been working on our numbers in handwriting, and everyone is trying so hard to make their numbers and they look very nice!  Great job on counting to 100, we sound so good when we count in the morning!  We have also added composing and decomposing  numbers to our math meeting and reading two and three digit numbers.
