weeks of November 23 and November 30, 2015

Weeks of November 23 and November 30, 2015

There will be no written homework the week of November 23, 2015 due to the short week.  It will resume on December 1, 2015 when we return from break.  Please practice all letters, sounds, sight word, and continue to read your AR books!  J

*Below lists the topics we will be starting November 23 and continuing the following week.*

Math- Our new topic is: Topic 4, Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-10.  We will be working on numbers to 5 and then numbers to 10.  We will be working on 1 and 2 more and 1 and 2 fewer.  We will also be ordering those numbers to 10 and working with a number line.  We have been practicing writing numbers 0-10 in Handwriting and each day we practice a different number 0-20 in Math Meeting.  Keep up the good work writing your numbers!

Science- We will continue to use our Weekly Readers to explore more topics in the world around us.  We will also be working on different dinosaur activities and reading many books on the topic that are both fiction and nonfiction.  We will continue to talk about the upcoming season of winter and what winter looks like, feels like, and what different animals do in this time of year.

Reading- Our new story is: Jack and the Beanstalk.  We will be comparing and contrasting realism versus fantasy with our new story.  Our amazing words are: beanstalk, ogre, naughty, fad, magic, lend.  We will also identify the setting of the story and list the characters.

Phonics/Grammar- Our new letter is Ii like in Igloo.  We will be identifying the /Ii/ sound in the beginning and middle of words.  We will be listening for plot of the story and reviewing adjectives to describe our nouns.  We will be working on identifying the initial, medial, and final sounds in all words.
