weeks of November 24 and December 2

These 2 weeks in class:
There will be no homework the week of November 24, have a Happy Holiday!  It will resume when we get back on December 2.  Please review sight words, DIBELS information, and continue to read!

Math:  We have been working on Topic 4, Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-10.  We have been learning to compare and order all of those numbers as well as the math vocabulary of: greater and less.  We have been counting by 10s and reviewing our AABB pattern.  We will have a new pattern of ABCD for December and work on penny, nickel, and quarter in Math Meeting. 

Reading/Phonics: Our story is called: “Jack and the Beanstalk” and the skills we will be focusing on is: plot and realism vs. fantasy.  We are also working on Ii in the beginning of words and in the middle of words. We will be working on telling stories using adjectives.  We also will be working on question marks, exclamation points, and periods.  Our amazing words for this story are: beanstalk, ogre, naughty, lad, magic, land.

Science:  We have finished tying in our living and nonliving science topic to our Reading lesson and will be working on Unit C, Earth and Sky.  The essential question will be “What are the Earth and sky like?”  We will also be talking about weather and day and night throughout the unit.  We will also be completing many Thanksgiving activities and centers before the break.
Reminders:

*Please keep the sight word envelope in the folder. Please practice those daily.  The words include: I, am, the, little, have, is, to, a, my, we, like, he, with she, look, see, they, you, of, are.

The Book Order will be due back by November 25, please let us know if you would like it to be a surprise and we conceal the books before they go home.

*Please return the AR books in the book bag each day along with filling out the Reading Log for each book.   The children are selecting their own books in the morning and are in charge of getting out the old book to get a new one.

Please wear a hat, gloves, and a warm coat daily.  We go out to recess as much as possible!  Please also write your name on the items because they get misplaced easily.

Santa Letters due December 2

Family and Friends are invited to attend the K-3 Christmas Concert which will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 4th in the North Schuylkill High School Auditorium. Students are asked to arrive at the high school (please use the doors at the gymnasium/ auditorium) between 6:15 and 6:30 PM. Teachers will be available to escort students to the gym.  Students need to be dressed in dress code OR BETTER! Girls may wear Christmas dresses, skirts, etc. Boys can wear shirts, ties, Christmas sweaters, etc. NO JEANS OR GYM CLOTHES!  Kindergarten will walk to the high school to practice for the concert the morning of December 4th.  Please be sure your child is wearing good walking shoes and dressed appropriately for the weather!  In the event of rain or snow, buses will be provided.
