week of November 17, 2014

This week in class:

Math:  We have just introduced Topic 4, Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-10.  We will be learning to compare and order all of those numbers as well as the math vocabulary of: greater and less.  We have been counting by 10s and reviewing our AABB pattern

Reading/Phonics: Our story is called: “A Bed for the Winter” and the skill we will be focusing on is: sequencing.  We are also working on Ii in the beginning of words and in the middle of words. We will be working on captions as well as adjectives for opposites.  We also will be working on giving a description.  Our amazing words for this story are: nest, stump, hive, meadow, tree trunk, den.

Science:  We have finished tying in our living and nonliving science topic to our Reading lesson and will be working on Unit C, Earth and Sky.  The essential question will be “What are the Earth and sky like?”  We will also be talking about weather and day and night throughout the unit.
