week of November 3, 2014

This week in class:

Math:  Our topic is Numbers 6-10 (Topic 3).  We will be continuing this topic all week and taking our assessment on counting objects, number writing, and looking for a pattern.  Our new pattern for November will be an AABB pattern using yellow and brown.  We also added a fraction example to our Math Meeting using ¼.

Reading/Phonics: Our story is called: “Animal Babies in Grasslands” and the skill we will be focusing on is main idea.  We are also working on Pp in the beginning of words and at the end of words.  We will be working on notes as well as adjectives for colors and shapes.  We also will be working on discussion rules for a group.  Our amazing words for this story are: calf, cub, joey, grassland, pup, foal.

Science:  We will be wrapping up our science unit on Problem Solving by talking about how to share ideas with others.  We also have been working on making a plan and drawing the plan to solve the problem.  Last week, we made a Venn Diagram comparing the two additional units that we have covered in here: apples and pumpkins.

Please keep the sight word envelope in the folder.  We will fill the envelope with the flash cards as we introduce them in school.  Please practice those daily.  The words include: I, am, the, little, have, is, to, a, my, we, like, he, with she.

.Please only sign and return the paper from the Personal Body Safety Program if you DO NOT want your child to participate in it.

Please return any questionnaires for Conferences if you have not done so already.

Please also clean out papers in the folder as soon as possible so that it is easier for your child to pack their folders daily.
