Mrs.
Borden and Mrs. Jones’ Nifty Newsletter (week of Feb. 11)
This week’s
letter is Dd like in Dog. We will do lots of practice discriminating
between Bb and Dd. Please continue to
review sight words daily and reading
as much as possible!
In
Math, we will continue reviewing AB, AABB,
ABAB, and ABC patterns with movement,
objects, shapes, and colors. We will
also be working with nickels with
identifying them, counting them, and buying objects with them. Please continue counting to 100 by ones, tens, and fives.
Our new Reading story is Goldilocks and the Three
Bears. Though it is a familiar
story, we will be exploring character, setting, problem and solution with the
story. We will also be listening to
other takes on the same story.
Please continue to send coats, hats, gloves,
scarves, and dress warmly because we do try to get outside as much as
possible.
We are also
trying to write stories on the backs
of our papers as much as possible. We
try to work on two finger spacing, capital letters at the beginning, and
punctuation at the end. Also, we are
trying hard to vary our topics that we are writing about as well as elaborating
on our story.
Tuesday
is Day 4 and is Gym day. Please wear sneakers.
Wednesday, February
13 will be the Jump Rope for Heart
Day. It is a no day in the rotation
schedule. Please wear Gym clothes that day so that your child
will be comfortable to cooperate.
Thursday,
February 14 will be the Valentine Party. Please have one Valentine for every child in
the classroom. If you need another copy
of the class list please let us know.
There will
be no school for students on Friday,
February 15 and Monday, February 18.
School resumes on Tuesday, February 19.
