Mrs.
Borden and Mrs. Jones’ Newsletter (Week of April 4, 2017)
Math:
Our new topic is, Topic 10, and our
essential question is “How can you add 1 ten and some ones to make the numbers
11-19?” We will be representing numbers
11-19 with a composition of 10 plus 1, 10 plus 2, etc. We will also be using drawings and number
sentences to identify patterns on the first two rows of the hundreds chart.
Reading: Our new story is Trucks Roll! and
it is a big book that we will use to focus on comparing and contrasting. Our amazing words include: trailers, haul, truckers, cabs, steering
wheel, headlight. We will be reviewing vowel sounds in words
and discussing our response to questions from our story.
Handwriting/Writing: We have been working on writing our first and
last names without random capitals in the middle. We discussed using initials as well. We will continue to dictate short sentences
with CVC words for practice. They are
often on the back of our handwriting if you would like to review them.
***Please continue to review all letters,
sounds, numbers, counting patterns, as well as sight words. Also, please continue to read each night and
complete the AR book log as the goal
is at least 15 books a month.
****Please
sign and return the assessment folders as soon as possible. It helps with our record keeping. If you have any questions, please let us
know.
