week of April 10, 2017

Mrs. Borden and Mrs. Jones’ Newsletter (Week of April 10, 2017)

Math: Our new topic is, Topic 11, Decomposing Numbers 11-19. We will learn to break the numbers 11 to 19 into parts made up of ten ones and some further ones.  We will write number sentences to show how we broke the numbers into parts.  Our math words to use are: double ten frame, set.

Reading: Our new story is The Little Engine that Could and it is a book that we will use to focus on the plot of the story.  Our amazing words include: engine, tracks, passenger, roundhouse, mountain, valley.

Handwriting/Writing: We have been working on our lowercase letters and writing our number correctly very hard!  We also have been working hard on applying the rules of: 2 finger spaces between words, capitalize only the first letter of the sentence/names/I, punctuation at the end of the sentence, staying on topic, and using our best writing and spelling.

***Thank you to everyone who donated to our fabulous Spa Basket!  Also, thank you if you came to the Basket Auction over the weekend to help support the NSE PTO, we appreciate it!
***Please continue to review all letters, sounds, numbers, counting patterns, as well as sight words.  Also, please continue to read each night and complete the AR book log as the goal is at least 15 books a month.
