Mrs. Borden and Mrs.
Jones’ Newsletter Week of March 6, 2017
-We will be continuing: If You Could Go to Antarctica and we will be classifying and
categorizing. We will be looking at
writing sentences with capital letters at the beginning and punctuation at the
end. Our amazing words are: Antarctica, icebergs, seals, continent,
penguins, whales. We will be
reviewing character and setting as well.
-Many thanks for a successful Dr. Seuss/Read Across America Week! The students from Bloomsburg University came
and did a wonderful lesson with us using a Dr. Seuss book. We have read several of his books including: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, And
To Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, The Foot Book, Fox in Socks, The
Sneetches, and many, many others. We
were able to make a craft for us to be: Thing 1, our crazy socks, and what we
saw on our street. We had a great time
reading these classic books along with a meaningful activity with each one.
-In Math: we will continue: Topic 8, Understanding Subtraction. We will listen to number stories about
separating groups. We will learn about subtraction
sentences, the minus sign, and how to find differences. Our new math words are: left, separate, subtraction sentence, minus sign.
