Mrs. Borden and Mrs. Jones’ Newsletter, Week of September 19, 2016
Math-  Our new Topic is: Topic 15, Position and Location of Shapes.  Our essential question is: “What words can be used to describe the position and location of an object.”  Our new Math words are:  inside, outside, above, below, left, right.  We are practicing counting to 100 each day and adding on after 10.  Please continue to practice writing your numbers.  We have reviewed 1-4 thus far.

Science-  We are exploring our 5 senses and what we use to observe.  We will soon be talking about Johnny Appleseed and starting our apple unit.  We will graph, sort, count, and describe apples.  We will also be getting ready for Fall and discuss Fall activities and weather.

Reading/Phonics-  Our new story is: Plaidypus Lost.  It is a fiction story.  We will be working on the sequence of the story.  We will also work on identifying: Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss.  We will continue to work on listening to rhyme and rhythm.  Our amazing words are: platypus, lost, market, around, found, groceries.

***Please practice sight words.  We are working on and checking List 1/List 2.  The flash cards can be left at home, but please keep the list in the folder.

***Fall Festival Information: The Kindergarten Fall Festival will be held on Thursday, October 6th.  We are asking that each child please donate $3.00 for the Fall Festival. The money is needed to buy supplies to make the day extra special for our Kindergarten students. There will be a meeting for anyone that would like to help at the Fall Festival on Tuesday, September 27th at 6:30 at the Mineshaft in Ashland. Just a reminder, the Fall Festival is not a PTO event so anyone who has clearances may help!

***Please practice all letters, sounds, rhyming, and numbers and counting.  Thank you!!!!!!!
