This week in
class:
Math: We started Topic 16 and we will be analyzing, comparing, and composing shapes. We also have been writing numbers 0-10 and counting
on our calendar and days of school as well.
Reading:
Our new story is called: “Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip” and the skill
we will be focusing on is classifying and
categorizing. We will identify jobs within a community. We are also
working on syllables, rhymes, and rhythm daily. In small groups, we are working on letter identification and sight words and reading sentences. We also
have started writing topics and have worked on: invitations, describing words, labels, and have gone over a period, exclamation mark, and quotation marks.
Science:
We just wrapped up making observations
and safety and will be starting living/nonliving things. We
also started learning centers with independent
work in small groups and everyone did a FANTASTIC JOB!
Reminders:
Please
sign and return all stamped tests
and papers as soon as possible. We use
them to track progress on Common Core Standards and appreciate your cooperation.
The
$4.00 for Fall Festival is due as
soon as possible.
There
is no meeting for the Fall Festival this week, however, we need volunteers. You only
need clearances to do so and this is
not a PTO event.
Important Dates:
Monday, Day 4, Gym
On Monday, September 22,
we will be practicing an intruder drill. An Alert Now message previously went out
about this and we practiced it first.
All next week, we
will be working on an Apple Unit for
Johnny Appleseed’s birthday. Please send
in 1 apple by Wednesday with
your child so that we can graph, count, compare/contrast, and make applesauce.
Happy Fall on September 23!
The school store starts next
week. Kindergarten may only shop on Mondays. Please make your child aware that the store
is only open until the bell for homeroom.
