week of April 22-26, 2013

In Reading, we are  reading Old McDonald’s Woodshop and  talking about the various characters in the story.  We will also be talking about various materials used to build things.

In Math, we have been working on adding two groups of objects together to get a sum.  We will also be acting out addition stories.  We have now added “some, some went away” stories utilizing subtraction skills.  We have also been counting and grouping by 2’s and working on estimation and check by counting.

In Phonics, we are continuing work on digraphs with oo like in hook and tooth.  We will also be working in the “sneaky e” rule.   A sneaky e is an e at the end of a word that is silent and sneaky that is sneaks up on the vowel to scare it and say its own name like in : cake, dime, concrete, cube, or hose.
