(Week
of March 4-8)
We
enjoyed celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Birthday
and Read Across America this week
with many fun books, activities, and guest readers. We wrapped up the week with
Gerald McBoing Boing read by a
student from Bloomsburg University.
In Phonics we will work with the
letter x like in the end of fox. We will identify the initial, medial and final
sounds in words, review vowels, and separate words into compound words. We will
also have a treasure hunt where “X” will mark the spot!!!
In Math we will make ABBC patterns using
pattern blocks, compare numbers to 10 and identify right and left.
Our new Reading story is called Max Takes the Train. We will talk about many
forms of transportation. We will discuss realism (nonfiction) and fantasy
(fiction).
Kindergarten
registration for the 2013-2014 school year will be held during
the week of March 4-8. Registration is
open to all residents of the NS School District. Please pass along this information to anyone
with children ready to begin Kindergarten in the fall. Appointments should be scheduled with the
office.
Newspaper
in Education Week is a program sponsored by the Pottsville
Republican & Herald to promote interest in the newspaper in our
schools. It will be starting on Monday,
March 4th and continue through Friday, March 8th. Information is in your child’s folder.
We are
trying to get students outside for recess
as much as possible! Please be sure that your child has warm jacket, gloves,
