Week of April 19

Kindergarten News

~ This week in Phonics, we will be working on digraph ck as in duck and back. We will not be sending word lists home for practice anymore. At this point in the year, we would like to see what the children can do on their own!

~ In Math, we will continue to work on Chapter 11: Addition. Please continue to practice counting sets of numbers and adding them together. We only go up to the number 10 in kindergarten, but feel free to go higher! It will be good practice for first grade!

~ Our new story in Reading is called, Mayday! Mayday! It is about a coast guard rescue mission. We will be discussing cause and effect in the story.

~ We will have a program on personal safety on Tuesday, April 20.

~ Graduation pictures will also be on Tuesday, April 20. Don’t forget to wear a white collared shirt! Girls, please do not wear your hair up because it will make it hard to fit the graduation caps! If you are interested in purchasing pictures, an envelope went home a few weeks ago. Please return it by Tuesday. If you need another envelope, I have a few extras!

~ Thursday, April 22 is Earth Day! We will be doing activities using recycled materials, taking walks outside (weather permitting), and talking about ways to make our planet a better place to live!

~ Monday, April 19 will be Day 2 on our rotation schedule!
