· This week we will be learning the consonant letter Pp as in pig, pink, and pumpkin, and to celebrate we will have a Pajama Party on Friday, October 23rd from 9:00-11:00 am. Students are asked to wear their pajamas to school. Robes and slippers are optional, however we ask that students wear sneakers or shoes to school and change into slippers after they arrive (due to outside recess and the weather).

· We began Chapter 3, Numbers 0-5. We will match groups of objects to find out which groups have the same, more and fewer. We will also learn to read and write numbers 0-5 and match them to groups of objects.

· This week we will finish working with our story Julius and begin Dig Digging!

· Thank you to everyone who made our Fall Festival such a big success. The weather did not cooperate but that didn’t stop our fun. The children are still talking about their favorite activities. Thanks again for all of your hard work and time.

· October is Fire Prevention Month. We will be having a fire safety programs in school.

· We will be talking about “pumpkins”, learning about the life cycle of pumpkins, reading some pumpkin stories and maybe even carve our own jack-o-lantern! Each Kindergarten class will participate in a pumpkin decorating contest. The contest is part of Ashland’s Apple Fest being held on Saturday, October 17th. The winning pumpkins will earn an ice cream party for their classrooms. All are welcome to attend the Apple Fest. Stop by, join in the festivities, and vote for your favorite pumpkin.
· Monday, October 19th will be Day 3 on the special classes’ schedule.
