week of September 30, 2013

Mrs. Borden and Mrs. Jones’ Nifty Newsletter (week of September 30)

In Phonics, we will be learning the letter Tt like in Tent.  We have learned how to spell and read log, hog, and we can now spell hot, got, and lot.  Please continue to review sight words in envelopes.

In Reading, our story is “Dig, Dig, Digging” and all of our amazing words have the –ing ending on them.  We will continue to review character, setting, and sequence.  We will also be starting nouns for people and animals.

In Math, our essential questions for the week include: how can numbers from 6-10 be counted, read, and written.  Please also review our topics of numbers 0-5 and more and less.

On Friday, October 4, we will be having a Talent Show with our class.  The students can prepare to share a talent.  In the past some of the talents have included: singing, dancing, joke telling, magic, or a sport skill.

The Kindergarten Fall Festival will take place Thursday, October 17th. We are asking each child to bring $4 for supplies due by Monday, September 30th.

More parents are needed to make this a memorable day for the children. If you are interested in helping, there will be another meeting on Sunday, September 29th at 5:30 at the Mineshaft in Ashland. Parents need only have clearances on file and do not need to be a member of PTO. Any questions please contact Trish Kodack at 570-933-5147

We have wrapped up our apple activities and will be transitioning into pumpkins and other fall fun.

Monday is Day 4, Gym, please wear sneakers.

Thursday is Day 2, Book Exchange, please bring your book back.
