Homework
½ sheet, sight word practice, word list practice, and Independent Oral Reading sheet daily
In Phonics we will be learning the letter J as in jar and Jones. We will work on medial sounds in words and syllables.
Our new Reading story is called Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Our focus will be the Characters in the story.
Our Math topics for the week will be identifying and counting nickels, identifying a cylinder, ordering objects by height and creating patterns.
Kindergarten Registration will be held March 7-11 for incoming Kindergarten students.
Wednesday, March 2nd was Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We read some great books and made some fun things to go along with the stories like gak, hats and our own Dr. Seuss characters. On Friday, March 4th some students from Bloomsburg University visited our classroom to read Dr. Seuss books and do a follow up activity with the students. We had many guest readers! Be sure to ask your child about their day!
*Newspaper in Education Week is a program sponsored by the Pottsville Republican & Herald to promote interest in the newspaper in our schools. It will be starting on Monday, March 7th and continue through Friday, March 11th. Watch the paper for our ad and also record your reading each day on the I’m a Reader Take Home Challenge sheet that was sent home in your child’s folder.
Monday will be Day 1. Don’t forget your sneakers for Gym and your library book for Tuesday’s library class.
