week of March 28

Mrs. Borden and Mrs. Jones’ Nifty Newsletter (week of March 28)
This week in Phonics, we will be working on the combination “qu” like in Queen. Q and U always are together and we will be having a pretend wedding as a culminating activity to bring this concept to life. Invitations for the children are with the newsletter. Our Queen Day will be on: Wednesday, March 30 and the girls will have the opportunity to wear their crowns and be treated like royalty!
Our new Reading story is: “Max Takes the Train” and we will be working on different ways to travel. We will also be comparing and contrasting fiction and nonfiction stories.
In Math, we will be working on: counting forward and backward, tangrams, measuring objects with nonstandard units, length, and graphing on a pictogram.
Report cards will be sent home next week; please sign and return them as soon as possible. It is hard to believe that there is only one marking period left in this Kindergarten year!
In Science, we are working on Animals Two by Two and have been observing goldfish and guppies and have seen worms in their dirt habitat. We have also compared and contrasted different kinds of bugs.

J ust a reminder, Kindergarten graduation pictures will be on April 7, please return the photo forms as soon as possible.

On April 14, there will be school Physicals for anyone who returned a purple form if it was sent home by the school nurse. They had to be rescheduled due to a conflict with the doctor.

Please continue to wear coats to school, the weather is very unpredictable and we like to be outside at recess as much as possible.
Everyone is doing such a good job! Give yourself a cheer!
